Would you like to help tackle speeding on Waltham Abbey’s roads?
We’re teaming up with the Epping Forest Transport Action Group (EFTAG) and Essex Police Casualty Reduction Section (ECPRS) to launch a Community Speedwatch scheme in our town.
What is Community Speedwatch?
Community Speedwatch is a volunteer scheme which monitors traffic speeds, reporting back to the Casualty Reduction Unit who will issue warnings to motorists when necessary.
The idea is to raise awareness of road safety among motorists and to work as a community to help reduce anti-social behaviour and the number of injuries from road traffic collisions.
Three or more volunteers go out in teams to monitor speeds using equipment provided by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service. There should be at least two hours monitoring a week spread between the volunteers – the more volunteers we have the less each of us will have to do!
For more information please see the Safer Essex Roads website: Community Speed Watch
If you’re interested in getting involved please let us know via this form.
(If you’ve already sent an email to EFTAG you don’t have to fill this in – they’ll contact you separately.)
